Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear for the Sports massage?
You will be covered with towels during the massage. Only the areas being massaged will be exposed at any one time. Client modesty is maintained at all times.
For a whole body massage, you will be asked to change to either loose-fitting gym/run shorts or underwear and a bra for women. I will leave the room whilst you get changed. You will be given a towel to cover yourself with and asked to lie down on the couch.
Will it be painful?
If you have a tight/stiff/sore/problem area, these can be ‘uncomfortable’ during deep work. What most describe as a ‘good pain’. Yet I will work as deeply as you, the client, are comfortable with.
Overall, you should feel calm and relaxed after treatment. Stiff/problem areas may feel slightly sore for a day or two. Extra water post massage treatment is advised to help with this.
Why do you advise water after Sports Massage?
With Sports/Deep Tissue Massage, metabolic waste materials and other toxins are released from the muscle tissue and into the blood stream. In turn, the Sports Massage treatment helps move/bring new blood and nutrients to flow through any congested areas, which subsequently helps to ease muscle tension/stiffness. “Good stuff in, bad stuff out.”
This is all great news, but it is dehydrating to muscle tissue. So, to help re-hydrate and prevent any unnecessary soreness extra water is always advised. Especially over the next day or two after treatment.
